Iran Pursues Cooperation with Knowledge-Based Foreign Enterprises
Iran pursues cooperation with the knowledge-based foreign enterprises, Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Ali Zeiyar said on Saturday.
Speaking to Shana, the official referred to the extroversion aspect of Resistance Economy outlined by the Leader and said Iran seek to increase presence in the global market by the help of foreign companies.
He pointed to the negotiations between foreign companies and their Iranian partners and said those foreign enterprises that are knowledge-based have priority.
Zeiyar said that the Petroleum Ministry has put 10 items among the strategic items that should be produced domestically and among them rotating machinery, turbine and compressor are related to refining and Distribution Company.
Iran’s Petroleum Ministry has stepped up efforts to produce petroleum industry equipment. The Ministry is concentrating its efforts on domestic manufacturing of equipment needed in the petroleum industry.
Petroleum has been the main industry in Iran since 1920s. The Iranian economy is heavily dependent on the lucrative oil and gas sector. Despite Tehran’s attempts to diversify its economy, the oil and gas industry is still the critical engine of Iran’s economic growth.
